Sweet and Sour Fish
The healthier way to prepare the all-time favorite Sweet and Sour Fish - baked and not fried - in order to cut down the amount of oil used.
I use oven-ready breaded fish fillets for this dish. The results are as good as deep-fried fish, without the fat calories. Popping the fish in the oven is also easier and less messy than preparing the deep fryer!
Ingredients:
- 2 Fillets of Breaded White Fish for baking (eg Plaice, Cod, Whiting)
- 1 Brown Onion, sliced thinly
- 2 Tbsp Tomato Ketchup*
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce*
- 1 tsp Light Soy Sauce*
- 2 Tbsp Sugar
- 100ml Water
- 1 tsp Cornflour mixed with 1 Tbsp Water
Method:
- Bake fish according to package instructions.
- Heat a little oil in a saucepan. Stir-fry the onion slices until fragrant and translucent.
- Mix the sauce ingredients* together and cook with the onions.
- Bring mixture to the boil, add the cornflour mixture and stir to thicken.
- Pour over the fish fillets just before serving.
